WIRED Certification - Connecting Businesses in the Modern World
In the modern business world, digital communication is more important now than it ever has been. The buildings that business happens in now have to include a degree of connectivity out of necessity rather than preference. It is another factor that MEP engineers have to consider when designing new commercial properties and it is this business necessity that has led to the creation of an industry certification called WIRED that has now been introduced not just in Ireland, but also in Germany, Canada and France.
Its introduction is an attempt to improve the digital infrastructure of the built environment and its continued success is likely to see its adoption in many more countries in the coming years. The standard came about in 2013, when Arie Barendrecht decided that something had to be done to standardise how digital electrical engineering digital comms solutions were designed in new buildings and refurbishment projects.
At the time, there was some disparity between what was perceived to be the minimum requirements for digital connectivity in commercial buildings - something Mr Barendrecht sought to address.
In order to attract tenants to their business premises, building owners are going to be increasingly required to be accredited and by implementing the necessary infrastructure during new build projects, the need for retrofitting and its associated costs are avoided.
With Smart Homes, Smart Offices becoming more and more common and Smart technology gaining pace every year, the need to facilitate its use in the business environment is here to stay. For this reason, our mechanical & electrical engineers now consider the concept as key element to any new commercial project.
