The Oracle Block B East Point Dublin, One of Ireland’s First LEED Platinum Buildings
At J.V Tierney & Co, our electrical and mechanical engineers have been involved in many client projects that have employed numerous established and modern sustainable design techniques. One particular project we are very proud to have been involved with is the Oracle Building Block B, at the East Point Business Park in Dublin with Meehan Associates and Oracle. The project was thoroughly evaluated upon its completion and it was awarded a Platinum rating, making it the first of its kind in Ireland. Meehan Associates were the LEED Accredited Professionals for the project.
What does LEED Platinum Involve?
The term LEED stands for ‘Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design’ and it refers to a set of standards that M & E Design engineers, designers and architects use to create highly energy efficient, green buildings. The standard is used to evaluate building projects across a comprehensive range of categories, right from the initial pre-design phase, through to the occupancy and operational phase.
In order to achieve LEED Platinum status, a building project must score over 80 points out of 100 and display the very highest standards of sustainable design. Buildings that are awarded this certification are the most environmentally friendly and comfortable for its users, in existence.
We were given the responsibility for all aspects of Mechanical Electrical & Sustainable Design & LEED Commissioning Agents (CxA) and BIM Technology for the Oracle B refurbishment works, which included a range of intelligent sustainable lighting controls, a Campus wide network of voice, data, fire alarm, CCTV connections and standby generators. The full details of the project can be found via this link http://bit.ly/2Nrhmny.
Our consulting engineers continue to provide the very highest levels of sustainable design to our clients and we are well placed to play a major role in a greener, more energy efficient Irish construction industry.
